Rakesh's Blogs

I propose to use this platform for blogging selfies of my mind, my thoughts, opinions, and any aspects of my lifestyle that I wish to share with others. I have identified ten ‘umbrella’ categories of human activities under which I shall post. These constitute the major chunk of a human being’s day-to-day – the NowLife. Over time, my blogs will evolve into my autobiography archived as a digital Library of My Mind. You can interact with me by writing directly to me. You can also post under any category by sending your blog to us for doing so; the post will appear under your name. Your blogs will remain permanently on this site.

Ageing

Age creeps up on us all. The only alternative to it is to die young! It occupies a major portion of your life depending on your physical, mental and cognitive health. Your frame of mind defines how you deal with your ageing– ranging from labelling it as God’s Waiting Room to joyfully embracing your Golden Years. Here, I propose to express the lifestyle and behaviour I have adopted as I age. And share inspirational writings that might be useful for adjusting to this stage of life.

Relationships

Our life’s journey is marked by family blood and emotional and physical relationships. We love, fight, hurt, reconcile, care…but having relationships is an indelible Rule of Human Evolution. The nature and type of relationships, their beginning and their end, highs and lows, depend on myriad variables. Here, I am recording experiences and thoughts about love, marriage, children, sexuality, lifestyles and other aspects of interactions with loved ones. In sum, they will constitute the Library of My Mind.

Friends

It is empirically recognised that cultivated friendships are integral to one’s contentful existence. Apart from recognising personal friends and our ‘moments’, it is also pertinent to record thoughts and views on Friendship.

Heart + Mind

The Human Condition is irrevocably tied to the interconnectedness between heart and mind. Emotions and Ego are often in conflict with logic. The well-being of Heart+Mind pivots on finding the right balance between the two. Each human has a different formula for meeting this challenge. My posts here will address the whole gamut of issues: What maximizes happiness? How do you cope with the downsides e.g. loneliness, grief? What part does compassion or selfishness play? Here, I want to share my thoughts on life and living – and learn about it from others.

Health

The absence of infirmity does not mean being healthy. That is more a balanced state of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Scientific advances in biological sciences are revealing causes and cures for achieving “radical well-being”. I am recording thoughts and practices on health issues under this category.

Sports/Hobbies

As we progress in the Life journey, we indulge in a variety of activities, ranging from Cooking, Music, Photography, Reading, and Sports… —the list is endless. Most hobbies gradually fall by the wayside. One or two become lifelong passions. I propose to record aspects of activities I have indulged in that might be of interest to family and friends.

Professional Life

This records my professional activities both past and present.

CQ India – Sundry Observations

IMeMyself / Reflections

I share my day-to-day living and circumstances, and thoughts and ideas on my Life’s journey: childhood, inspirations (parents, public figures, books, experiences), spiritual path, personal values, successes and failures, and societal developments of concern. Travels

Here is the new formulation: ” R L Stevenson wrote that “ to travel is the greatest affair”. I have been very fortunate to have had professional and private opportunities to travel globally from the age of 6 onwards. Some of my travels have been recorded in diaries and digitally, but by no means comprehensively. I propose to record on this platform whatever travel-related memories occur. Hopefully, they might be of interest to like-minded travellers.”

Cappadocia, Turkey

This is Derinkuyu in Turkey. It is one of dozens of underground cities below Cappadocia’s spectacular landscape. They were used as wartime retreats for safety

Global Humanity

My stray views on Geo-Political/Economic/Social developments, ranging from global warming to human rights to nuclear disarmament.
